Yes, quite recently in my town I was unable to find a shop selling any laptops with cd trays.

Yes, I have an external hard drive, thanks.
(Before I clicked the link, I thought you were recommending K-tel Record Selectors again - I presume they have an updated one for cds. )

Thats an external CD/DVD player/burner, and it comes with it's own selector.

I haven't let go of the CD. I use Nero to burn discs. I use easy CD audio converter to rip my discs.

I was disappointed that my current laptop didn't come with a DVD drive. I bought an Asus external drive for peanuts, like $30 CAD. It does the trick. Thankfully, my car has a CD player in it. I hopefully won't be trading it in anytime soon. Not only do I want to avoid a car payment, I don't want to have to wait six months to get a new car.

I wouldn't bother buying burning software. There are some free ones out there that work great. Nero has gotten too bloated, well at least it's latest few versions have.

CDs are cool, I love when I'm playing a CD in my old boombox and the electronic guts inside start to get all hot and stinky, it makes me wanna dance

I bought a boombox for a room in the house where I work. It's great. I haven't tried walking up and down the street with it on my shoulder though.

Cultural appropriation. Unless you're black.

I'll say it again for the people that didn't hear me: Windows Media Player burns CD's.

Why would you BUY 3rd party software to do the same thing?

iTunes was able to burn music for Mac folks as well, assuming you had a disk drive. I still haven't upgraded from Mojave, but I assume that Apple Music has the same capability.

It's only when you're running Linux distros that it might get dicey on whether or not you have an easy way to burn CDs.

iDont use iOS closed architecture bloat.

It's funny. Someone asks for advice about burning CD's, I point them in the right direction and it all gets glossed over. Why even.
