Oddly enough, I'm familiar with Discord because that's where I've been conducting my classes ever since Mexico suspended face-to-face teaching back in March 2020. I'm not too sure if it's any substitute for MB though. Have you guys opened many text channels there? Do you use it mainly for talking or typing?
Perhaps I should log in and answer my own questions.

Isn't discord chat+video? Do conversations stay recorded? It doesn't sound like a replacement to a forum.

It's text, call, and video. Less ability to preserve and look up old posts, but the call and video options are a big advantage

Thanks for clarifying, Marie. TBH I'm not sure about chatting in real time. I quite like what we have here, which gives us time to pause, reflect and compose.
