It sucks that pinball has gone the way of the dodo in terms of popularity. I love pinball. There's something so exhilirating about physically hitting the flipper buttons, feeling the vibration of the bumpers, watching the ball fly up the ramps, and seeing the lights go crazy when you hit all the drop targets, and of course, the crushing dread as you slowly watch your last ball inevitably hit the outlane, with the only feeling left being: "Just one more go...", as you drop another quarter in. It's a perfect time and a wonderful way to waste away a few hours, especially when you have multiple machines to play with.
Digital pinball has gotten much better (Pinball FX3, Zaccaria Pinball, etc.), and it even has digital recreations of classic machines, but it just aint the same as standing in front of the real deal. |
