I grew up with Drake and Josh - never really got into iCarly. Dan Schneider is a weirdo though.

Loving this CHAD who moved to Brooklyn and doesn't understand the concept of anything being different from what it is in his hometown. To his credit he's a proper CHAD, which sets him apart from the obese fannypack and shorts brigade who you always see freaking out at French store names on Montreal's main commercial street

I need to pay more attention the next time I visit. I don't think I've ever seen people freak out over store names on Ste-Catherine street. The strip clubs, well that's a different story lol.

How did this guy react when he passed Schwartz? That's worth freaking out over.

On another note, I can't believe I commented on something released on a service I know nothing about!

He's a weird Quebec nationalist. Don't worry about it.

I used to walk to school through THE most commercial bit of Ste-Catherine (near Crescent etc) for two years. You would often see busloads of Midwestern or Floridian stereotypes shouting things like "Murry, Murry, look, what does it say here?" and Murry going "the heck I know".

I can't blame you for being an ignorant American who has no way to realize there's a difference between having a negative opinion of people who live for generations in Montreal without bothering to learn French and being a "Quebec nationalist".... but let's get this straight once and for all. I have no time for nationalism and am completely opposed to Quebec separatism. What I do love is Montreal with its cultural singularity, while being indifferent at best to the rest of Quebec: the difference between the two is as vast as that between NYC and wherever you hail from (and never left by the sound of it).

So you don't hate non-French speakers in Montreal you just hate their culture.

With the types I have in mind, I'll be very surprised if they have a culture besides the resentment over long ago having been the provincial top dogs and that no longer being the case (and over the resultant perceived humiliation of being expected to learn French, when in their minds they're better than that and than the people who speak it).

Having said that, my original post was to say that my opinions on this have softened somewhat due to, among others, certain personal circumstances, the idiocy of the provincial politicians implementing French-only policies etc.
