Well you said you had dinner with a group of people and then proceeded to talk about how you didn't think you personally would get it, as if your mother and her friend's safety wasn't really a concern

she works at a fast food place lol... I'm thinking having dinner with a couple people you know well is less risky than half the **** we all do on a daily basis

Sorry, I get the virus is serious, but you really expect people to just stop living their lives for the next year or two? The ****'s not going anywhere.

Nah I'm serious. If I really thought it would make a difference i wouldn't go. I just don't believe that. We've been in this half way lockdown stage for half a year and it doesn't seem to be working at all. So one dinner with a couple people you know doesn't seem like such an outrageous risk considering we have to work, go to stores, etc on a daily basis. It's the everyday activity that's actually spreading the ****.

I went through a scare when I was in the program and people started getting it left and right. And half the **** they started doing to fight it was pointless and performative as well. Maybe that's made me somewhat jaded towards the whole ordeal.

You can just say no, we've heard the justifications already.

I know, just saying that I already heard all of these points from my braindead family members who've gotten sucked up into the popular denialism surrounding covid, so the embellishment isn't really necessary.

Anyways, I'm thankful that the heat wave is over.

That's a false justification. Things like getting food are essential; the fact that many people have this 'nah it won't make a difference if I have one family dinner' mentality adds up and is the cause that things don't work.
I mean, I'm not judging about you wanting to be with your family. I've been adhering to the corona rules well while I'm here in England, but I'll be flying to Holland in December, and I did the same in the summer. It's just that pretending it isn't bad corona wise makes no sense.

Well by all means go sit down at a table next to them with your mask off.

I don't necessarily agree. I know it poses a slight risk but I don't think it's a big part of what's driving the spread. If I actually believed it was a serious risk to go then I wouldn't have gone. I really don't believe that.

You have people who don't give a **** at all walking around without masks and ****. And then you have the necessary tasks of life that you cited. Guess what? The virus doesn't give a **** if the task is necessary or not.

That's what's driving the spread by and large. Is an unnecessary gathering am additional risk? Yeah but not that much. I'm just burnt out on this **** tbh.
