Nicely spotted re common sense in this instance, I'll give you that. This is one of the first times in my life that I use this thing, so I'm pretty proud of it.

Also, opening windows in classes has the advantage of not yet being politicized, thus mentioning AOC was an own goal on my part.

Yeah and the stupid government chose this exact time to stop COVID mass testing programmes. I've heard reports that the risk of getting very ill from it is extremely low now, but you'd think tracking this spike in cases properly would be a good idea -_-

It's called the law of averages. There's nothing to say EVERYONE who refuses the vaccine will get sick or indeed NOBODY who refuses the vaccine will get sick, just as those of those who take it, some will still get sick. But not taking it is sort of like spinning the chamber, pointing the gun at your head and pulling the trigger. I guess in the same analogy, a vaccinated person would only have one bullet in the chamber, so much better chance of survival. Maybe. Nothing is black and white. Except television sets in the 1950s.

Exo makes a good point, and I think the operative word in your question, Norg, is "a few" (okay, two operative words!) - if only a few people haven't taken it and have not got sick, how many people do you know (or don't know) who haven't taken it and have got sick or died, as Exo says? I guarantee you it's a far, far higher figure than the few of your friends who have struck lucky. And it is blind luck. If you're not taking the vaxx, you're essentially standing in the street and saying to the virus "Come on you bastard! Take me! I'm ready!" (possibly while waving an automatic rifle around, who knows?) and the only reason they're still alive may be because the virus has shrugged and said "Nah, not really in the mood today."

I mean, it's stupid, but your question really is one of the most glaringly stupid ones you've asked since "why don't the Ukrainian civilians just leave the towns before the Russians bomb them out?"

I said it before, and I will now repeat what I said: sigh.
