Yeah but I'm entirely sold on vitamin D being this thing that really helps, like maybe middle class whites just refuse to give up a feeling of not having control of any given situation so they latch onto that and hey it also explains why more black people are dying so no need to think about wealth inequality.

Those people are clever enough to know who not to ask. You have to present some sort of ID at most places so they can track you for your booster anyway though.

It sure is starting slow.

Could be. These days you can find an “expert” to support any position. I felt like it was true when I read it but idk.

Not even throwing shade at experts. I've seen reasonable stuff on why it could be good science while not knowing how much of a consensus there is, but I am dubious about certain people I know being so quick to jump on this. Like it sounds fine and good to pop a vitamin D pill every day and hope it works but I smell a certain amount of desperation that this must work cause middle class white people aren't willing to accept uncertainty as the masters of this country.

I heard about the benefits of vit D too, and how black skin means that your body would get less of it from the sun. Sounded convincing to me, coming from Britain's Dr. John Campbell, complete with percentages and diagrams.
That's one reason why black communities are disproprotionately vulnerable, plus the factors Batlord mentions. Maybe your job involves confronting the public, maybe you don't know where to get a vaccine, maybe you don't trust the science, maybe you have long-standing health issues. All of those things can be true at the same time, and all of them are skewed to make black communities more vulnerable I believe.

It’s hard to have weaponized “science” against a group for centuries and then expect them to be like hooray the government is here to help us.

Obviously, I want the vaccine ASAP but it kind of bothers me that Japan isn’t rolling them out yet. Germany and Japan are the two governments I trust the most to make responsible decisions concerning public health. And Japan really wants the Olympics to happen. Japan will probably get it into arms very quickly once they get to it. However, they do have a huge homeless problem in Tokyo. I was shocked when I saw their endless rows and rows of cardboard box “houses”.
