I heard about the benefits of vit D too, and how black skin means that your body would get less of it from the sun. Sounded convincing to me, coming from Britain's Dr. John Campbell, complete with percentages and diagrams.
That's one reason why black communities are disproprotionately vulnerable, plus the factors Batlord mentions. Maybe your job involves confronting the public, maybe you don't know where to get a vaccine, maybe you don't trust the science, maybe you have long-standing health issues. All of those things can be true at the same time, and all of them are skewed to make black communities more vulnerable I believe.
