Masks mitigate spread but don't protect you from infection, which is what people were stocking up on them for during the beginning of the pandemic. This remains true.

I wouldnt say they dont protect you at all from infection, just that it is a negligible and minute amount. Anything in from of your mouth and nose is going to help to some degree, it is just a matter of is it enough to even warrant doing it.

The analogy is exclusively meant to address the concept of masks directly protecting you from the virus being somewhat true yet not nearly as helpful as OH is making it out to be, but you guys go ahead and read whatever you'd like into it.

I just misunderstood you then. I did qualify my statement with "if" in case I was doing so.
