My girlfriends mom loves those two. To remind you, she recently contracted and recovered from the virus. She thinks we all need to just get the virus and get it over with. So I guess their sermon worked.

She showed us the video. They spent most of the time explaining what an immune system was! Wow! Insightful! Then they said if we keep staying inside we might get more colds and stuff. Well, sheesh, I'm glad they're concerned but viruses and stuff.

Trying to live a life under the current circumstances is one thing but she literally wants people to just get it because "you're gunna get it anyway" and her illness wasn't even that bad!

It's just very narrow and closed minded logic working on all levels.

Scientists right now seem to estimate that over half the population (maybe more) is going to get it within the next 20 months easy. We're all just rolling the dice until X pharma come out with a remdesivir generic.

On that note, I've been wondering lately the degree to which competition is slowing down cure research since it would make capitalistic sense to keep a puzzle piece you've discovered to have a monopoly on the cure. Does anyone know how much vaccine researchers are collaborating and whether or not any measures are being put in place to improve communication and transparency?

China doesn't have that problem since they already invented a cure in the same lab they used to make the virus.

She should be grateful. That doesn't mean she should stop actively thinking about the situation but to go right to "I had it and it wasn't that bad so everybody should just get it over with" is so frustrating to me and Dana and that video was a big part of it.

Look, NJ is opening parks and golf courses this weekend and I'm actually okay with that. It's getting nice out and people will start going outside no matter what so it's better to have much bigger areas to socially distance rather than a municipal park that gets overcrowded easily. I'm not like OH, although his approach is the safest and I respect the f*ck out of it. I go outside. I'm just not advocating rushing everybody back to work and school and all that sh*t just to restart an economy that was sh*t to begin with.

Let's save as many lifes as we can and focus on eradicating this virus from the get go.

I figured that you should actually read it since it addresses recombination, plus I was wondering how you would change the methodology so that I can email the researchers and take credit for your insight.

They could start by actually identifying an animal coronavirus that is sufficiently similar to have served as the direct progenitor of SARS-CoV-2.
