The lottery is low key the best argument against socialism tbh. If people actually thought and acted cooperatively the existence of a state gambling racket where you are statistically almost guaranteed to lose would be a losing idea that people would laugh off. But people do not think of themselves as a group, they think of themselves as singular individuals who must be magically immune to common sense because they are destined for better things than the dross they're surrounded by. People are simply too stupid and self-absorbed for a higher concept like socialism to work whereas capitalism feeds into this instinct for deluded, idiotic grandeur.
