Honestly I wonder if a country of our size might need a dictator to tell us what to think in order for us to respond to actual crises in any kind of reasonable manner, but unfortunately we have a ****ty dictator.

Didn’t think so.
they downplayed the story for too long and refused the readily available testing kits from the WHO probably cause somebody here wanted to make money making their own.

But China's dictatorship also suppressed the story early on by silencing and potentially killing several critics and whistle blowers so all the praise for their supposedly superior authoritarian response is probably also unwarranted.
