A little bit of both I would suspect

The question is not do we care about it but does it care about us? And yes, yes it does, in its way. Global war will do nothing more than help it spread, so while of course we should be concentrating on what's happening in Ukraine, we really can't say "Covid is over", because it's not and it doesn't care about our other concerns.

Here, cases are skyrocketing due to the govt scrapping all restrictions, and while it appears this new variant is not as dangerous as previous ones, the hospitals, we are now told, are becoming "reservoirs for Covid", to the point where they are saying now that admitting people to hospital is actually dangerous!

I continue to wear my mask, and will do until somebody in - health - authority says it's safe not to. I imagine I may be wearing it for some time.

I don’t really care much about it now I’ve been vaccinated. I feel like there’s not much more I can do so might as well get on with my life as normal. I don’t wear masks or anything anymore. I’m not sure what our guidance is on it at the moment.

This is the kind of totally clueless selfish bullshit that's making life hell for a lot of people.

I’m actually medically exempt from wearing a mask. During the pandemic I chose to wear one. I recently chose not to. I’m not really sure what you want me to do? I wash my hands regularly to make sure I am not passing anything on, also test myself if I think I have any covid symptoms. I was in isolation for the full 10 days when I did test positive. Just because I’m not 100% sure what the guidance is doesn’t mean I’m being selfish so just want to say thanks for your assumptions x

Edited to add.

The "guidance" is using your brain.
It also helps to realize that the universe
involves other people besides you.
Read what you wrote initially and then
think clearly about what you just told all of us.

Yeah I said I didn’t care about covid anymore and that I don’t wear a mask now, which I never had to do in the first place. Also that I am living my life as normal now. Guidance is not defined as “using your brain” what a ridiculous statement. Government guidance changes here week by week. I was not sure what the current guidance was because they have been relaxing things gradually.

https://www.gov.scot/coronavirus-covid-19/

From that guidance where does it say that I can’t live my life normally? I’m curious. I have had 3 vaccinations and I test if I have any symptoms. I’m really not sure what else you would like me to do.

Also struggling to see how I am being selfish when although I wasn’t 100% aware of the exact guidance I had still been following it correctly. At no point did I say or insinuate that I was putting other people at risk. You jumped the gun and made an assumption which was incorrect.

He asked me whether I found it "too stuffy" and had no idea what I was on about. There were hand sanitizer dispensers at every door and no air circulation whatsoever.

The damage was done in the first few weeks of the pandemic, when once-in-a-generation geniuses like AOC harangued everyone into washing their hands and even taught everyone how it's done. This thing is airborne: washing one's hands is generally a good idea but not so much against the coronavirus.

From yesterday: Italian study shows ventilation can cut school COVID cases by 82%

I'm confused here. Are you saying that people washing their hands did not help to contain the spread of the virus? Cos it did. Studies show that the virus was removed from people with hand washing, and they were less liable to pass it on. Your contention as to "the damage was done" is odd to me. The real damage was done when the president at the time decided Covid was nothing to worry about, refused to wear a mask or encourage or even mandate social distance, and fed into a ridiculous string of conspiracy theories that included everything from Covid is fake to Covid is a Jewish plot. How you can blame someone who "harangued people into washing their hands" is beyond me. I truly don't understand what you're getting at. Are you saying people should not have been told to wash their hands??

Also, I understand Fetcher's confusion and it is unfair to call her selfish, as she is certainly not that sort of person. I personally continue to wear a mask as I said due to my worry of bringing the virus home to Karen, who is, like me, triple vaxxed (though I hear now there is a fourth shot possibly available?) but our govt have categorically declared there will be no return to mandates, despite the fact that cases are climbing again. That's the kind of selfishness we're dealing with: politicians who are ****-scared to go back to how it was because they'll lose votes and people will think they're mean. We've had enough of you now, Covid. Go away. Doesn't work like that.

Thank you TH.

I completely respect people who do still wear masks etc, I have had friends ask me to do a lateral flow test before visiting them (which I thought was a bit over the top) but I still done it because that was their wish. My boyfriends mum is vulnerable and we have been majorly cautious all the way through covid and missed out on doing so much because of this so understandably I am tired of it after 2 years.

I hope things get better in Ireland. I think we are in a pretty similar position that the cases keep going up but we won’t have any further restrictions going forward. I can only hope that covid variants become more and more like the common cold so we can put it behind us and people will be able to live without any fear.
