To get this straight it’s not that the variants are any more lethal or otherwise harmful after they’re contracted it’s just that the increase in their contagiousness means we can expect the spread to almost certainly outpace the vaccine?

Obviously that’s a huge concern but I can’t help but worry with the virus having had and apparently will continue to have so many opportunities to mutate something is going to come along that beats the vaccine and/or becomes more dangerous once contracted.

Along those lines, it’s still a battle to keep up antibiotic resistant superbug bacteria. Ultimately, that may not even be a long term winnable war because the ability to mutate is endless but the variations on more and more effective antibiotics is not.

Anybody else getting the feeling that we're in for a LONG ass pandemic? Like 3-4 more years? I just don't see how numbers get down enough to start forming en masse again.

Can I start advocating for a certain person's death tomorrow?

New Covid-19 cases declined 11% after hitting a peak last week

I looks like we're coming out of the holiday spike right now, and I think the combination of the vaccines and the weather getting warmer will mean the numbers will go down a lot more once we're well into spring. Not saying there might not be another spike in the fall, but I'm optimistic that it won't drag on as long as you're talking about.

It's been a good 100 years but we've seen this sorta thing before. It can't last forever.

tbh if we're still in the same spot a year from now i'll join the anti mask people and just say **** it let everybody get it and god sort out the winners and losers. so done with this ****.
