Western Europe has around 200,000 deaths.
Seriously deplorable numbers in the UK, France, Spain, and Italy. The USA is cranking out about 2000 deaths a day.

There was a guy who got arrested for something petty not far from here and when in the back of the police car he asked what would happen if he infected them with covid, then started coughing deliberately, and he's just gone to prison for it. As far as he knew he wasn't even positive but he's still gone to prison. If you mean you personally, then I dunno lolz. |

What do you think of this? Religion before logic? Not surprising but still...
News Alert: Supreme Court sides with religious groups in a dispute over Covid-19 restrictions in New York In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court sided with religious organizations in a dispute over Covid-19 restrictions put in place by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo that limited attendance at religious services. The case is the latest pitting religious groups against city and state officials seeking to stop the spread of Covid-19 and highlights the impact of Justice Amy Coney Barrett on the Court. It comes as Covid-19 related cases are spiking across the country. In the late-night ruling, Barrett sided with the conservatives in the dispute, while Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberal justices in dissent. The ruling underscores Barrett's impact on the bench, reflecting the Court's rightward shift. So people - including SCOTUS - believe that it's more important that they gather in what could be superspreader events in order to give thanks to a god most of them, if pressed, probably really don't believe in and are there just to make up the faith numbers, for what exactly, than to remain safe? If God exists, do they not think he she or it would prefer them to be alive and worshipping in their own way than dead because they flouted state regs meant to protect them? If you ever needed an illustration of the bone-headed stupidity and stubbornness of religious people, this is it. I bet when interviewed most said "If it's God's will I die..." Well I hope you do, you crowd of gob****es.

I have to take issue with your contention that they're smart, unless you mean they're wily and playing the long game to upset the new administration. If they are smart, as in, intelligent, why would they ignore CDC and WHO guidelines and side with people who want to gather and make superspreader events rather than say, worship at home people and stay safe? This isn't, or shouldn't be, seen as an attack on the right of people to practice their religion, just the right to practice it where it will cause harm.
We had something similar here in good old Catholic Ireland recently, but it was vague mutterings; the government can't be overruled by the courts so far as I know, unlike your US version, and everyone just had to accept it, mostly because it ****ing made sense. Who was it said that God is everywhere? If you believe that, then why does it matter where you worship or how?
