Having weird existential thoughts

I come home from 8 hours where basically every single thought or conversation is about this ruthlessly efficient disease that’s trying to wipe out humans

And then I get to hang out with cats that are as happy as can be because their entire world is the house that they live in, and in that context everything continues to operate exactly as optimally intended. Their poop is scooped. Their fur is brushed. Their food is served. That’s all that matters.

Meanwhile so many things I considered a given have been suddenly snatched from me

The adjustment is jarring and the level of concern I should have is difficult to determine

Seeing how nature doesn’t give a **** while humans are losing their minds is both fascinating and horrifying

It might make social security solvent.
Our restaurant is still completely packed with rich old ****s.
I know the kitchen crew is sick but I’m the only one taking off.
Plus the work release people have no choice.
The servers just toss the dishes into the dish pit and grab the next plates.
Us kitchen folks wash our hands and use the gloves but the servers are touching the plates more than we do.

I’m not even ****ing taking my employee meals even if I cook it myself. There’s just too much goddamn breathing snorting spitting coughing yelling ... if you’re still eating out you’re ****ing crazy if you ask me. Unless you figure everyone is going to get it anyway, I guess.

I’d rather wait until we know something. Maybe I got it. Maybe I don’t. When she told me I had a fever this morning my heart really sank.
