Vietnam's government merely decided to take fascist action super early, even before the WHO laid out any guidelines or had any conclusive evidence about human-to-human transmission. That's all. It has nothing to do with how much or how little they care about their people. A more likely explanation is that the rich and powerful who live in Vietnam are just way more paranoid and pressured the government to act in their favor. When the ruling class freak out about something collectively, that tends to make a government do things quicker.

If they had followed the exact same response pattern as their neighbors or the rest of the world and ended up with lots of outbreaks and deaths, you really think they'd support their people when their healthcare infrastructure is worse than ours? Highly doubtful.

Based on your previous responses to me in other threads, I believe that you flip-flop so much that I honestly don't care. You can't even make up your mind about basic ****, nor comprehend the implications of a sentence like "Vietnam only has 8 doctors for every 10,000 people.". Some very wealthy people were very very afraid when they saw those first reports coming out of China.

The point is that Vietnam was rather smart in this case to act on it's own economic interests despite how it might have looked to the EU and others, which is why they completely shut their borders down and took drastic measures weeks before everyone else. It wasn't because they care about their people.

it's a much poorer country that managed to avoid deaths, we had no excuse, and our gov failed us spectacularly

I sometimes wonder if we'd be dealing with the current situation at all if Trump had just shut all international travel down in early to mid January instead of what actually transpired. Maybe it was already too late back then.

The American people would have never allowed that with all their freedoms at stake. "Live Free or Die" taken at a literal level. I think I might move to Vietnam. They seem awesome.

Yeah. They looked at what the Chinese were doing and that’s all they needed to know.

I personally don’t consider drowning in lung fluid freedom.

I do consider throwing out the elderly literally like garbage fascist though.

The poor people in Vietnam eat rice and vegetables. The American poor live in capitalist food deserts and live on Cheetos. The poor in Vietnam are allowed to form communities without being constantly **** on and murdered by the police.

The police in America have been raiding homeless camps even during all this. There’s no comparison. They beat our cowardly imperialist asses at war and they beat us politically and culturally at peace.

Ive been there. It’s cool af. If you could arrange a permanent English teaching job with their government I’d totally recommend it.
