I know what you mean.
I’m also frightened of social unrest as well though. Another part of me even wishes the virus was worse so it would be more likely to completely decimate our economy and the world economy and could somehow force the world to reset putting all people on equal footing globally. I thought what if this really causes us to default on the debt and the dollar is devalued worldwide to the point of making the dollar a worthless world currency. Maybe that would be enough to wipe out all debt of any kind worldwide. I’m just rambling but I’ve heard them speculate 50 million unemployed in the US is coming. And the supply chain could be severely disrupted. I mean, aviation is dead world wide. That alone is a lot. Famine even in western countries isn’t unthinkable. NewsHour said cases in the Middle East doubled in one week to 60,000 confirmed cases.

I'm kinda curious how this compares to the Spanish Flue which killed millions but ended up being a blip on the historical radar. Like this hella matters to us but will it have a similarly negligible effect on world history?

That will depend on the nature of this virus.

Might depend on us tbh. A hundred years ago people might have had a more blase attitude toward death especially without modern medicine and modern journalism.

I imagine the infant mortality rate, the mortality rate in hospitals, etc probably gave people a different attitude towards death a hundred years ago that might have given them a different perspective on a pandemic than now where mortality is much lower but also where we don't have a real relationship with death and so it seems like almost a cartoon villain we don't believe is real and coming for us. It just seems like a mindset that is completely different from a hundred years ago that will make our response to this pandemic pretty interesting.
