Fresno, California

Quote:
Fresno (/ˈfrɛznoʊ/ FREZ-noh; Spanish for '"ash tree"') is a city in and the county seat of Fresno County, California, United States. It covers about 112 square miles (290 km2)[12] in the center of the San Joaquin Valley, the southern portion of California's Central Valley.

Named for the abundant ash trees lining the San Joaquin River, Fresno was founded in 1872 as a railway station of the Central Pacific Railroad before it was incorporated in 1885. The city has since become an economic hub of Fresno County and the San Joaquin Valley, with much of the surrounding areas in the Metropolitan Fresno region predominantly tied to large-scale agricultural production.

The population of Fresno grew from 134,000 in 1960 to 428,000 in 2000.[13] With a census-estimated 2019 population of 531,576,[8] Fresno is the fifth-most populous city in California, the most populous inland city in California, and the 34th-most populous city in the nation.

Fresno is near the geographical center of California. It lies approximately 220 miles (350 km) north of Los Angeles, 170 miles (270 km) south of the state capital, Sacramento, and 185 miles (300 km) southeast of San Francisco. Yosemite National Park is about 60 miles (100 km) to the north, Kings Canyon National Park is 60 miles (100 km) to the east, and Sequoia National Park is 75 miles (120 km) to the southeast.

I was born near there. Great place to buy meth.

I add them to my facebook ad. It looks like a nice breather from the bigger California cities.

DAVENPORT RANKED AMONG BEST AMERICAN CITIES
Quote:
Davenport was ranked the 29th Best Small City in America by Resonance Consultancy that ranks cities around the world in a recently released report.

Davenport was the highest ranked of three Iowa Cities on the list, ahead of Iowa City (40) and Cedar Rapids (85). Ranked on six criteria, Davenport was ranked eighth for prosperity of the cities on the list, based on the income of citizens, the standard of living and the presence or absence of large, recognizable corporations.

The rankings consider metropolitan statistical areas of 100,000 to 500,000 in population.

“Distinguishing Davenport on the banks of the Mississippi is its status as the region’s economic powerhouse,” the report says, noting the presence of Kraft Heinz, Nestle Purina, and Deere & Company. “Not surprisingly, construction of hundreds of downtown apartments is underway to house those being drawn to the city.”

The report ranks Davenport 23rd for its cultural amenities, separately ranking the city 10th for nightlife and 21st for museums, specifically mentioning the Figge Art Museum.

I was just there a couple weeks ago, but it was right after that derecho event so things weren't quite back to normal yet. Camden II in Milan was a little messed up too. Fun little course though.

If I'd have known about that Figge museum, I'd have definitely gone through that.

You can say that again. The breakfast place I went to didn't have any coffee, and the Mexican place I stopped at for lunch was out of tortilla chips all because of the storm...
