It just seems hypocritical to me for merit to be perma'd for antisemitism but to then allow swastika avatars. I get that context is key. But I also think it's a bad look for the forum. So, I've posed the question in the mod cave and am waiting on feedback. |

Because I'd say that positing political views of any kind should be protected on an internet forum (it not being a formal platform but a platform for casual conversation) so long as they are not outwardly abusive. Merit's views could be ****ty but for the most part he avoided actual attacks on Jews, even if simply to toe the line. Some of his other homo/transphobic statements in those posts were scummy but ultimately borderline afaic since they were positing opinions rather than explicit attacks (associating Gay Pride parades with pedophilia was possibly over the borderline tbh but still within the bounds of at most a warning since it's at least a position which can be logically argued). Calling grindy "grindr" and mocking him for supposedly being a crossdresser is what I thought was banworthy.
