I don’t think I’ve ever used one either

Yeah in some but those aren’t proper Jukeboxes. Most of the places around here hire a DJ at the weekend so you could ask nicely for something but it would probably need to be techno or something like that.

Ugh. I very much avoid places with DJs. I hate when the music is so loud you can't talk. Some people go to those places to talk, not to dance. I mean wtf is that all about? Makes no sense at all. Bring me to a place like that and I'm just miserable and will find an excuse to leave early.

We do have places like that but they aren’t as popular. It really depends on my mood, sometimes I would love that environment and other times I’d be miserable and leave too. I can’t really remember the last time I went to the pub though, it’s too expensive here so my friends and I usually get a drink in the house instead.

Beers at my place with board games. Generally preferred to going to bars. I go to cafés more than anything else for a drink I guess. They're nicely quiet, with usually only low volume music playing and many of them have an atmosphere and menu card that blurs the line between café and bar.
The only downside it they tend to have a lot of hipster beer like IPAs. I want dark beers, damn it! Pitch black, if possible. |

That is what me and my friends do, tbh though they are all too busy getting married and having families now.
Edit: like a heavy lager?

German "dunkel" (dark) beers also tend to be good, even if they're quite mild most of the time. I'm a lot more picky with lighter colored beers. |

Juke boxes really date back to the time when people wanted to buy, or couldn't afford to buy, hit singles. Back in my day, about one in five cafés and pubs might have one. Even though me and my pals didn't spend money on them, we'd usually nerd up, flick through the play options and giggle in a superior way at the out-dated pop they offered.* Also of mild interest was to see all the B-side titles that you'd never hear on the radio.
* There were two dangers to this activity. If you were careless, you might jog the jukebox and cause the needle to jump off the song that was playing, or ridicule too loudly a song that someone had chosen. A friend of mine once laughed too obviously and had to humbly backpeddle when he was confronted by an angry guy who'd just spent 10p to hear "I'm not in love" in peace. __________________________________________________ _________________________ ^ I didn't know that you and Unitron were friends irl. That's a pretty unusual circumstance here - but then the typical MB member doesn't have any friends in real life. Just check out the Member Picture Gallery and count how many photos are selfies-in-the-bathroom. That should tell you something.
