Thanks so much!

Here's a semi-sombre gem I like playing on rainy days:

^ Slow piano is always a good fit to a rainy day, windsock - plus WWP's John Martyn song, which has to be followed up by playing Five Leaves Left. Then, if it's still raining, time to lighten the mood with "It's raining men."

Oh cool, newbies can do this too?

Best Avatar: Tie between Ori and Frown. Ori's fits him well, but I also like me a good flat earth joke.
Best Signature: windsock. Captures elph at a real family guy funny moment.
Howard The Duck Memorial Award for Most Inane Member: Since windsock already mentioned those persistent auto insurance dudes, I'll go with the gone and forgotten MP5 experiment account. They just made obvious spam posts to get to 15 posts, and made a topic about experimenting with the .mp5 format that was full of music videos in .mp4 and then the same ones in .mp5. (Whatever all the crap meant, me and whichever mod btfo'd them are probably the only ones who are aware of what I'm talking about).
Biggest Fanboy / Fangirl of the Year: K_addict. Could it really be anyone else?
Best Writer: Ori, funny stuff.
Nicest member: A huge tie between Mindfulness, Dude111, Lisna, Fluff, and Plankton. They're the guys that I don't think I've ever seen bring any negativity, always super friendly when I've seen them post.
Funniest member: windsock. Call me biased, but I don't know who else I would pick. Otherwise I would probably pick [MERIT] if only for his response in windsock's original join thread of 'What's your favorite bank account and social security number?'. Oh, and Black Francis has made some pretty funny posts too.
Best Mediator: Exo and WWWP seem to do a really good job.
Biggest Music Contributor: Mondo, thanks to him I found what's most likely my AOTY.
Best Media Forum Contributor: Mic, because Doom.
Best Taste in Music: Batlord for liking Helstar, and Plankton for liking Clutch.
Most Underrated Poster: Tie between Mic and Dude111. Mic because so many people (including me at one point) treat him like crap when he's usually really nice and respectful towards other's tastes. Dude because: "Just browsing MB on my Windows 98 machine and listening to my 8-tracks". He's so retro but without any amount of pretense.
Best Thread Starter: Unitron for his lovely Helstar thread.
Most Missed Poster: 66Sexy, but I guess we got a 2-for-1 deal with the arrival of Dharma and Greg
Thread of the Year: tuffy the dog.
Best Journal 2018: windsock's Trials and Tribulations of the $5 Mystery Bag Buyer.
Best Rivalry: Elph vs. jeans.
Biggest Lounge Lizard: Everyone from the looks of it.
Best Member Music Album (Released in 2018): Lord Salad - Trouble Salad
Lifetime Achievement Award: [MERIT], the guy's been here since 2004. I'd say that's an impressive feat.

I'll let the bias of us being irl friends slide because I like getting my ding-dong sucked and earning virtual good boy points.

(OK kinda miss this one.) BF, there is no hate. Don't agree with him.

See you have to step back and see the whole arc of the story. He was in the Album Club 2017 during the 2018 season and was complaining there wasn't any new music or albums he liked, so what did he do next? He suddenly started a thread for recommending songs and guess what? He didn't like them either. But did that thread go over? Sort of ... maybe not ... idk. But after he got done with that thread he started another thread promising to listen to anything (basically the same premise as before, just a different title). Whether or not he listened to everything I'm not sure, it's not up to me to decide and it's beside the point.

I am not claiming this is the most inane thing that ever happened on Music Banter. It's barely on the verge of being inane. It was something silly that gave me a chuckle. I didn't know how serious these nominations are, and now I being painted as the Hitler of Music Banter. I give up.

I started a new rec thread because I was too lazy looking for the old one and since the old one would probably have a bunch of things I didn't get around to anyway. Clean slate. I don't see the problem in that.

Also, the time passing between the creation of a second rec thread is considerable. The other one was like way back last year or something.

You nitpick the strangest things.

And I'm pretty sure I liked things in every rec thread. Maybe not always yours, about which I'm so profoundly sorry and will consider committing seppuku over.

^ Well, I hope you guys have cleared the air and can be friendly again. You are both great posters and have a lot to contribute to MB.

"Throw me a rec" is a good way to start off a musical discussion: I remember enjoying one started by a newbie who opened a thread asking for instrumental blues recs, but after a while Plankton and I noticed that he shot down in flames almost everything we threw at him. So perhaps responding to recs is like being shown someone's baby - even when you think it's ugly, you have to try and say something nice about it. "I thought the recording responded particularly well to the volume control of my computer." That sort of thing.
