Perhaps that's why I like the sound of cables banging against flagpoles: when conditions are right they make a surprisingly loud sound - a clean clacking that I associate with a good strong wind and lots of fresh air.

The bit in bold caught my eye because Leonard Cohen did that too; you're in good company!

Where I live now there isn't a single tunnel or bridge for trains: we have level crossings everywhere and sometimes at night I can hear the goods trains sounding their horns from a track that's about 1.5 miles away. Hear that lonesome train whistle blow....
I'm from a small country suburban town, technically mostly a retirement community. The population here is less than 2,000 people. So in the dead of night, even though there are no tunnels or bridges for trains, I can hear it from...yeah, about a 1.5 miles away.

Good one! Even if some of those cats sound like the pneumatic drill they used to fix my street last year!

They remind me of my favourite post in this thread:

Our ducks in England bought me joy and laughter every day. Guess when they went to our Friend Jasons of Mantel Farm near Battle East Sussex... his Chicken Farm Business is still surviving through the panademic luckily...he did say they would be fine, but although when we speak we do not ask, thinking they are not with us anymore now. Cant take memories though...Ours were called Call Ducks...
