Where I live now there isn't a single tunnel or bridge for trains: we have level crossings everywhere and sometimes at night I can hear the goods trains sounding their horns from a track that's about 1.5 miles away. Hear that lonesome train whistle blow....

I'm from a small country suburban town, technically mostly a retirement community. The population here is less than 2,000 people. So in the dead of night, even though there are no tunnels or bridges for trains, I can hear it from...yeah, about a 1.5 miles away.
