My comment has more to do with choices that sentient beings make,
so I probably should’ve rephrased that a bit. There’s always some degree
of “on our own terms,” in relationships of all kinds and there are moments of
unconditional love that appear to happen, but, generally, dogs and cats have
their moments when they’re preoccupied with something (or themselves) and
could give a crap about the humans around them.

What’s Unconditional Love Got to Do With It
