^ Yep, Batlord's original post was just a poor-taste, unfunny joke. We've all made mistakes when we post comments, and when we do the best policy is to apologise and move on. When it became clear how upset Trollheart was, I think apologizing would've been the decent thing for Batlord to do. It would've demonstrated that Batlord put a higher value on Trollheart's peace of mind than on the spurious right to make extremely dubious personal "jokes".

^ This pinpoints a concern I have about Frownland's wearing of the blue. He's an interesting and prolific poster, which means he's often the first on the scene when something contentious goes down. But simply because his user name is blue, it looks as though his attitude is MB policy, whether Frownland intends it that way or not.

TBH, @ Frownland, I would hate to disrupt our amicable relationship, but have you ever considered voluntarily stepping down as a mod? It would free you up to make your particular brand of intellectually austere comments without being shackled by any obligation to police the threads. After all, one job of the mod, I presume, is to keep members and to keep members happy. As you've prob noticed, that priority is often in conflict with your own cerebral, dispassionate approach. I think this case is an example of that; there are several regular members who aren't happy that not one word has been said to censure Batlord, and you are not even throwing us a crumb as far as I can see.

Well, I suppose "I like you TH" could be considered a crumb, but still, you get my point, right?

I gave The Batlord a warning not to do it anymore last night in the thread where it happened and he agreed to it. I don't think coming down hard on people for flippant jokes not intended to be hurtful is a good approach either. Here's a piece of bread but I won't give you the sandwich the you're implying.

The problem is the way it was said. You were practically rolling your eyes and shaking your head and saying to him, "sorry mate, you know what this **** is like. I don't want to do it but I have to." It sounded more like a gentle reprimand AND IT DID NOT WORK, as evidenced by Batty's last post on the subject yesterday. He clearly did not think he was in the wrong, and probably never will.

I guarantee, any other mod would have done a better and more effective job of dealing with this than you. Your friendship with Batty biases your judgement and your "rulings". There can be no doubt about that. You let him away with more than anyone else would get away with, and this is, now, in total contravention, and makes a mockery of, Exo's stated new rules.

Thanks. He's in his 70s and has lived a full, wild rollercoaster of a life so far. Right now, he can talk but he's really incoherent and isn't aware of most everything going on around him.

I've been through it before. Most I've ever gone is a week without a reasonable amount of food. I don't stop eating altogether as I just enjoy food. I get depressed and eating is the first thing I stop doing but it's not a full stop of eating. Just less quantity.. It's odd but eh. I appreciate the concern tho. I promise I'm fine.

Well, you know my story. I literally stopped eating for three days. The only thing I consumed at all was water, and flavoured water at that. By day 3 I could feel the world slipping away and was about to go next door to a) ask them to phone an ambulance for me as I was about to faint and b) give them a key to let the carers in the next morning to get Karen moved. Scary as ****.

Yeah I do try to snap myself out of it but as I'm getting older, it's tougher for me to ask for help. I rarely ever do because I'm stubborn. Not that I necessary need help but yknow what I mean.
