Third person narration is when the narrator doesn't speak from their own perspective, but rather from an (often) omnipresent perspective of the situation as opposed to the first person where the narrator is speaking from their point of view. So saying that you've switched to third person suggests that when you made that particular remark, you were actually talking about yourself.
