Maybe. I'd say the root of SF's problems is its archaic land-use code that effectively prevents anything taller than three or four stories from being constructed throughout the vast majority of the city.

While I don't generally advocate bulldozing existing homes to make room for newer, taller multifamily buildings, it's basic common sense that San Francisco needs far greater levels of urban housing density to even *begin* meeting the increased demand for it. The situation in Silicon Valley proper (and the East Bay) is vastly worse. Despite becoming one of the priciest housing areas in America, roughly 95% of its residential land contains traditional, suburban-style single-family houses. I've done a fair amount of business over there myself: I'm sure anyone who lives their can attest to what I'm talking about.

I'll also say this: despite a few scattered attempts over the decades to increase the area's housing density, neighborhood activists are the ones who created these problems originally...people who view practical change as anathema. This attitude has arguably spurred the region's housing crisis more than any other single cause. The rise of big Tech has only exacerbated and sped up the timeline for an inevitable collapse.

Actually never mind all that, you're right: I lack the attention span required to watch a video to tell me what to think.
The video doesn't tell you "what to think" buddy: it was an investigation and a series of interviews with people who actually live there. The real estate situation over there is a legitimate crisis and the video does a better job than I could at illustrating all of the history associated with the issue. Your initial response, however, was a dismissal of the video itself because it came from Business Insider. If you think my response was a "lazy copout", then why would you bother responding the way you did?

Keep insisting that this is the case if you like, but that's not at all true. I got Ritz and saltines which one do you want

This was your statement that you seem to think I didn't respond adequately to. Give me a glass of milk so I can spit it up laughing. One of my best buds who works at Oracle HQ would have a field day with you.

Its virtually impossible to find a one bedroom in Seattle now since the cost of living has skyrocketed in the past few years. Credit to the tech companies making this their new home. You used to be able to get a 600$ a month one bedroom in downtown Seattle. You're lucky to find a studio for lower than twice that amount these days. That and too many people live here now.

And I'm just saying this because I wanted to respond but I literally know **** all about what you guys are talking about.

Well idk about other places, but the amount of homes they've been putting in my area is ridiculous. Basically if there's a plot of land available, they're putting houses there to compensate for the larger population here. They just got done building a set of 6 or 7 houses right next to my old elementary school with only a sidewalk separating it. I hate it, personally. Too many people wanna live here now. What's funny is there is also a large percentage of people that end up leaving because they cant stand the weather.

My dad literally says this same thing all the time. I dont remember there ever being as many people in Seattle as there has been in the past couple years. Virtually impossible to find my own place because of it. You're basically SOL if you dont work in the tech industry.

It’s hapoening all over. It’s called exponential growth. It took 1 million years to reach a billion people and just 200 more to add another 6 billion. But don’t worry. We’re going to invent things.

But hey overpopulation is a fascist talking point so it must be wrong cause Jews aren't inherently evil.
