I’d kill billions

That’s probably what it would take too

I constantly fantasize about starting my own lesbian spinster witch commune, or, alternately, just creating an isolated yurt village with no particular theme and just letting whoever live there. We would live in hobbit holes (but I'd live in a nearby lighthouse because that's just how it has to be) and have a little farm in the center, and at least 20 dogs and some chickens, and then it'll fall apart once I and probably several others realize that we do not actually know one single thing about farming or homesteading. (And then we die, which is fine) I've considered joining existing communes in the past but I can't bear a lot of new age hippie types (a specific type of new age hippie, I mean-- plenty of them can be fun though) so I'd be fairly hesitant. Unless they were strictly Forbidden from speaking to me and my several miniature donkeys. And this all seems rather nice in my head but not as nice as the idea of living in a cave behind a water fall where I'd make my own goat cheese and play the lyre badly.

I can't remember the name of the dude, but there was/is this one person-- I think he might have been the mayor of some tiny town prior to all this-- started a commune of sorts based around "radical truth" or something and everyone was obligated to get rid of any and all mental filters they had and blurt out whatever was passing through their mind at all times even if it was violent or vulgar or unwanted. Oh, and they were all nudists, too, I believe.

One of the most depressing moments of my adult life was when I researched lighthouses and found that at least in America they're now all automated so if you want to be a lighthouse keeper then **** you you're screwed.

Yeah but seriously there's literally no such thing as a lighthouse keeper anymore. It's all automated. I absolutely checked.

this might be an odd one but did you ever consider being a Carnie?

you travel to butt**** nowhere towns, free room and board, you get to party in the carnival drunk as **** every night after close

if I didn't despise children I might have done it
I don't think carnies have to like children tbh but how the **** do you even join a carnival? I don't even know how they still exist. How do they recruit?

Same. As a teenager I wanted to move to Maine when I turned 18 and just sort of gradually weasel my way into being a lighthouse keeper, (because that totally would have worked) but my dreams were crushed after actually researching it one night. And then I actually considered becoming a carnie (like elph said) as a sad alternative, I guess..? I know full well it would be miserable and not romantic or quaint at all, but the small idiot goblin in my brain still thinks it's a good idea for whatever reason.

I now wish I lived in a state with forest fires. They have watchtowers for that ****. Maybe I could live in a watchtower all year round and just look for smoke, but otherwise be a guy in the woods with a bitchin' view.

'Freaks on the peaks': the lonely lives of the last remaining forest fire lookouts
There were 10,000 lookouts, scanning the wilderness for signs of smoke. Now just a few hundred remain, and they pass the time hiking, writing and knitting
