Pictures really can't do justice to how revolting it is to see one skittering across your floor at half the speed of light. And yeah, it's a crime against nature that they can fly.

It's almost worse that they can't fly particularly fast, because while they're fast enough to escape death if given a few seconds head start, the site of a flying cockroach anti-majestically rising into the air with all the horror of worms in animal excrement will make you recoil in panic so that they may very well be able to disappear into the gap of a cupboard.
