I got to see her live. She’s absolute royalty.
She sure hints at getting revenge on The Pill. And “Don’t Come a Drinkin She’s fun not political but there’s some gritty feminism in there too.

And I don't know how much you've listened to Neko Case, but while she's beloved by many indie rock fans for being country for dweebs who don't listen to country her first album, The Virginian, is a completely different beast that's basically a love letter to 60s/70s country pop and most especially Loretta Lynn. It's also a top 10 pop album for me and is one of the catchiest albums ever made by wide margins.

Def. "The Pill" sounds as assuredly feminist as I'd ever hear from country even today. She sounds like a woman trying to help the younger generation on that song and not at all like she did on earlier songs.

I’ve been aware of her as a big name in the Americana movement for a long time. I listened to this record today and wasn’t really feeling it. It’s not often I don’t like something you rec so strongly. I’ll give it another listen later if you remind me. Maybe it’s me. Honestly, she’s never really grabbed my attention.

I didn't like Lil Yachty on the first try and you didn't like this. I think it's the exact same scenario but replace poppy rap with poppy country.

The importance of Bill Monroe cannot be overstated. The entire genre of bluegrass is credited to his band the Blue Grass Boys and he’s known as the Father of Bluegrass. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were members of the band and one classic lineup included Monroe on mandolin, Flatt on guitar, and Scruggs on banjo. My take is each of the three deserve a solid third of the credit for developing the distinct bluegrass sound. It’s also worth understanding that old timey country music had been building into bluegrass for several years. In many ways bluegrass parallels punk rock in its explosive distinctive flavor and in precursors.

Mizzou may be second only to UCLA at racism but Missouri will not be reviewed because it’s not the south.

No. I’m using the classic old school definition of “south” and the map from page one. I’m trying to do a real cultural overview and a genuine in depth look at the music from every southern state. Alphabetically I’m already up to Kentucky. This **** is labor intensive and a goddamn good resource for considering music from regional/cultural standpoint. I am southerner so I’m doing the south. I’ll go ahead and say this too: If it was JUST what I did for even ONE state Music of Florida or Music of Georgia it would still be one of the if not THE best music thread/journal of the year. I don’t even think this has gotten even one ****ing nomination. Seriously, this thread is a ****ing gold mine of information. Same with the 2018 free jazz and drones threads. Under appreciated like ****.
I get you that Missouri really does have a good case and it’s cool you’re digging this thread enough to make the request but no I can’t add anything extra.
