I think this is more about precedent than anything else, and the repeal is a big loss because of that. On the positive side, I think that there will be some companies that work around it, but still I think we should be working towards socializing the internet like they do in Europe instead of further privatizing it. |

Why fix what isn't broken? I never heard an end-user complaining that the internet was too egalitarian, that why isn't somebody controlling my internet-traffic speed to his own advantage. So why does the Republican party want to change what was working fine? Given that their motivation is usually "screw the regular people so that the rich can get richer" (as per their tax and health policies), I think American internet users have good cause to be angry and nervous.
It may be a nice metaphor to talk about "a bunch of horrified sheep", but imo it's a cheap shot on Lucem Ferre's part to use that description for a ground-swell of justified concern about what will happen to the internet. And if, in the end, Lucem is proved right and the answer is "nothing much will change", well that takes us right back to the question I started this post with.

Well, all I can say it's the Americans' (well, white Americans anyway) own fault. Time and time again they keep voting in the people most likely to screw them over because they don't like non-whites or whatever, and then they wonder why they keep getting screwed. Nothing will change until we Americans get wise like Hollywood (Hah!) always says we do.
The good news at least is it will be a while (maybe even years) before the new rules kick in. The bad news is, unless the Democrats have retaken the Government again, we may not even know what hit us when it happens. |

It’s been a long time since you could surf for stream of consciousness information and find decent material. It’s already so garbled and messy I don’t care much about it.
