As long as I get to live in the AI golden age of not having to do anything before our kids or grandkids have to deal with the robot rebellion then whatevs. You people brought it on yourselves and I'll just be happy to reap the benefits before our bed is made.

The only issue is that it would be way too easy to get wasted and get in the back or your self-driving car and tell it to take you to Cali just for the **** of it and then wake up in Tennessee (I live in VA).

Is it possible for AI to become conscious and self-aware? If not, why not? And if so shouldn’t we recognize that as a danger? And really, even if it’s not self-aware why is it so hard to believe we could lose control of it? How much of a stretch is it from terrorism through computer viruses to hacking AI or simple malfunction or even a self-educating program like DeepMind simply taking control? Many nightmare scenarios are very possible.

i defend Joe Rogan a lot but yeah, it's a weird dynamic. the thing is Joe will usually agree with a person on literally everything unless he is really passionate about his opinion the topic.

Say what you want about Sam Harris, but he is clearly leagues more intelligent than Joe Rogan, and is not exactly humble about it, and Joe Rogan is not exactly someone who you wouldn't "feel better than". And the kind of intellectual that Sam Harris is I imagine might feel dirty for having to whore himself out by being on this schlub's show than a venue of more intellectual merit. This is basically ghetto Ted Talks. Who wants to be on ghetto Ted Talks?

I'm still watching btw.
