Appreciation of nuance != diminished or greater personal significance when it comes to things that are mostly emotionally driven. Music, no matter how intricate, does not inspire the same kind of appreciation derived from watching a Starcraft god make the most brilliant of decisions. You don't need to understand what is happening to be significantly impacted.
