Hi. I imagine I shouldn't be posting in this thread since I don't know the particulars, but is questioning moderation actually allowed here? At my old forum taking shots at a moderator was a banable offense, and a permanent one at that.

The only one worth ****ting on is Frownland because he starts ****. All the other mods stay in their lane.

The point is that there are things about music that are hard or even impossible to understand without a certain training, whether simply by ear or actual musical training. A Mozart might not need years of musical training to understand the complexities of music, but you or I most certainly do and we don't have that training. I'm guessing Chris does have some of that training.

If it does then I guess I just wasn't being clear or it's just a very nuanced concept that's hard to put into words. I just made a journal post that I'd like to think makes it more clear, but basically there's musical appreciation, which is your ability to appreciate the actual notes and **** and how they work in a composition and all that, and then there's musical taste, which can be entirely dependent on how you view what you're listening to.

Much of the appreciation of music is more in the feeling it evokes in you. I don't have to know how a song is constructed to be able to enjoy it, and conversely, someone who DOES know exactly how it's constructed may not be as capable of enjoying it as me. Sometimes, ignorance can be bliss.
