Eleph said all wills and inheritance, so we aren’t just a talking about the most wealthy people on the planet. Not that there’s anything wrong with people who get rich without exploitation, fraud etc. having as much money as they can, and doing whatever they want with it.

So what would Batty and Elph have happen to their parents' house? Be donated to the government?

Edit: this wasn’t a response to the above post. Intended to follow on from TH and Monkeys poss.

Standard socialist/communist stuff I suppose. It’s ethical when the government takes what you earned and does what it wants with it. Man down the street obtains my bank details and I’m calling it a crime.

Yes, the government has superior moral standards than the citizenry.

I'd say that the lower the economic spectrum for one or both parties (however that would be calculated) should enter into the equation, but above a certain income there's simply no benefit to society besides wealth concentration. Do I have a comprehensive plan for this? No, but a bum inheriting a mansion and $10 million serves no one but the bum.

On the other hand, if the house doesn't pass to you in the will, then you could be kicked out by the bank. How about them apples?

I'd like to think we'd fall under the presumable economic level. But regardless I'd have to sell the house cause unless property taxes are far less terrifying than I imagine they are then I'd be ****ed (and if the mortgage isn't paid off by then then it would clearly be a lost cause). I guess I'll find out, unless she loses everything and has to sell it anyway due to our economic situation which is slowly becoming catastrophic.

Can't you get one of those equity loans if things are that bad? Don't know if they're advisable or anything, but they seem to be a short-term way to make your house give you money.
