This is actually a popular opinion. Death Note is garbage.

Death Note is not garbage. At least the manga. Never seen the anime. The manga is quite fun.

Death Note kicks ****ing ass, I've watched it twice and could see myself giving it a third viewing.

I've barely dipped into anime though. I watched Cowboy Bepop and loved it. Started My Hero Academia and hated it. Fullmetal Alchemist was OK but didn't hold my attention. That's about all I've given a concentrated effort to. Should I watch this Evangelion show?

I can't get passed how Anime is just something people discuss publically now. From the outside, it looks like cartoons consumed largely by people who think it's an art form. It reminds me of the guys who, rather than fratbro'ing it up talking about beer, got way into the craft of the beer, and now wants to tell you about how they roast the hops.

If you like it, I'm happy for you. But the rest of us do not care.

I watched Death Note a long time ago and thought that while it was fun the story got too big for the writers to handle. I don't know much about anime shows outside of that, but Evangelion is definitely worth your time. Even without the abstract elements and symbolism it's pretty compelling and has awesome visuals.

EDIT: Oh I also dug the Castlevania series on Netflix.

It may not always be "high art", but it's still an art form. Sounds like you're more concerned about the image surrounding anime fans than anime itself though. Have you tried watching any?

You don't have to. Personally I'd rather hear about what people do like though, there can be a lot of interesting stuff to learn from them. I don't usually care about what people don't care about or dislike, there's usually not much to unpack there.

And yet you seem to follow up most of my posts with snark. I think you protest too much.

I don't know if it counts, but I did like Inuyasha when it was on Adult Swim circa...2004?

Get used to it dawg.

Ja that's anime. Don't know much about that particular one though. You should give Evangelion a whirl, it achieves "artistry" as much as cinema can.

Church, but there is a point where someone geeking out on the brewing process and other minutiae more than the flavour/drunkitude itself for too long can be annoying. Pretty sure that's more what he's referring to.

Nothing's worse than stoners who grow their own weed who think that passing the blunt is a great time to have an in-depth discussion about botany though.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I try all manner of booze, these days its mezcal, though the IPA revolution is something I wasn't a part of. Hops = bad.

So you can throw them in with Punk and Anime while you're at it.
