One problem with architectural conservation is that it's so expensive. The repairs to this swimming-pool building have cost $ 1, 000, 000 so far and taken 17 years, with more work still to be done:-

As well as the main pool above, Mosely Road Baths has a second pool that is still in use. And that's why MRB is the UK holder of that much-coveted title,

Wow, that's beautiful iron work. I need to get pictures of the inside of the Old Joliet Women's Prison that's pretty much locked down to outsiders but I know someone with access. He took me down into the depths of that place a few months back and we passed a few of the old dorms that look a lot like what you're showing above with ornate iron work and the baroque style of the late 1800's and early 1900's. I had my phone/cam with me but I was so awestruck I didn't even think to snap any pics.

I did snap a pic of where I swim though. The roof has been redone but it didn't cost anywhere near 1M. lol Built in the 70's and I've been going there since '79.

It's quite the coincidence that you bring this up. ^ That is so beautiful and very clever Plankton! It has some nice details that I'm not going to spoil by mentioning. I was also pleased to be able to recognise the course from photos you've put here before, so I'm guessing Dellwood must be a real favourite course of yours.

I used to be extremely fascinated with Algeria.

I debated going to Morocco, Spain, and Algeria instead of the subcontinent but Spain was too expensive and Algeria was too dangerous.

Yes, all the Arab world looks interesting to me, OH.
Luckily, 45 years ago there was less Arab/West hostility than today. Morocco was pretty safe, and so different from Europe. We had some probs but never physical violence. If anything, on the contrary; we were shown hospitality so generous that we were suspicious. I remember me and my pal sitting in the back of the car of some guy we'd only just met, as he'd insisted we see his house. We were whispering, "Why are we doing this? We have no idea where we are. He could kill us!" In fact, we spent a very polite and civilised evening with him and his girlfriend.
