I live in the south suburbs of Chicago. Aside from a stint in the military and being stationed in Germany, I've lived here my entire life. It's a beautiful city. We used to park along LSD and bike down to Rush St and hit a few bars every now and then. I remember working next to the stock yards by Comisky (Guaranteed Rate Field now... smh), doing some electrical drawings for the McCormick Place expansion project, and the smell of bacon was everywhere. Many Cubs games, many Sox games, Bears games, Sears Tower (Now Willis Tower... again, smh) trips, Water Tower Place, Navy Pier, Boating down the Chicago river and into Lake MI, Air & Water Show, Oak St Beach, concerts at the many venues around town, and an occasional convention or two. I probably left some things out, but I can safely say I've done just about everything you can do around here. It's way too crowded though.

Bumping because, like architecture itself, it should be difficult to escape from this thread entirely. Probably, as you read this, you are sitting in a piece of architure already and even if you rush outside, you'll have to shut your eyes to avoid seeing more of the stuff.
If you are sitting at home, I wonder how you like your house? Mine is more or less like one of these:- It's unexceptional and too modern for my liking, but it's practical and, as it's only rented, I can console myself by dreaming of the day I buy Hadlow Tower in S E England:- ^ This is a private home, built rather whimsically in the Victorian era. Does it remind anyone else of the more famous Burj Khalifa Tower? Burj K is on a slightly grander scale of course, but its designers seem to have followed some similar engineering principles, especially in chosing a shape for max stability and wind resistance:- (My house, in comparison, adopts the Shycouch approach to wind resistance: Huddle down with everyone else and perhaps the wind won't notice you. )

Stretched and Kemlite lined with full HVAC, tiled flooring, and electric, with 8 windows and 2 doors, plus emergency lighting and a sloped roof with drainage. My own refrigerator and a microwave too.
There's a full office next to me and down the street, but I like it in here.

Managed to see some of the progress on some buildings being constructed right now and they're coming along very nicely, and took a couple of pictures of a couple of my favourite new buildings here also. There's a few I didn't get to see though.

Yeah it looks crazy bright. I was wondering if the camera caused some sort of bloom effect, because it looks like one big bright white light. Either there must be lots of smaller lights up close, or maybe it's lights behind some large white plastic surface.
