Anyway a few days of treatment at the vets and he was just getting worse and miserable so made the hard call to put him down. I patted him as he passed away and he was growling at the vet. Aw. So sad. Sorry you had to go through that. At least all mine were conscious decisions and we were able to spare them any more pain. I feel for ya bud. Did you get another cat? Just wondering.

Broad brush has taken over this place. Frowny would miss the **** out of me, even if he won't admit it.
Surely it does? You're talking committing suicide here, no matter the motive.

In Occult's case, literally.

Do you get how condescending it is to call someone else's life "sad"?

No you don't because you're understanding of the world is as stunted as your taste in music

Yes, I can, because I know my situation and you don't.

My excuse for not having a kid is that I ****ing hate kids and I'd make a terrible father.

Edit: And no, this wasn't a ****ing grief dick measuring contest, I was just relating to and agreeing with DWV's comment. Quit being a little whiny bitch and lament over mortality like the rest of us.
Resources were meant to be used up and carbon into the atmosphere is something that can be controlled regardless of the number of people that are around. So no, it is still a weak argument. Yes I get it. You don't want to take your experience as a child and put that onto a child to repeat history and raise a ****ed up individual. Now that is a fine reason. Everything else is horse ****.

I know I quoted you but I was just lazy and didn't quote DWV and Trollheart as well over the point that is below.

I'm not judging or hating people for wanting kids, I gave you your do praise actually. So why are you upset that I don't want kids? Do you guys really want me to have a kid? That's ****ing stupid just let me live my life the way I want to.
I don't care that you don't want kids but that excuse/reason is straight up dumb. The overpopulation one I mean.

My point is that everyone grieves loss in different ways and one way isn't above another like you are so outraged and offended by. You keep saying he has his opinion and you have your own but you aren't respecting his opinion in the slightest. It is all different experiences depending on the person and none of you are getting a gold medal.

Meant to be used up? That sounds like a religious argument. There is no intrinsic purpose to "resources", or existence as far as we can tell.

Resources are just supposed to exist? They are meant to be used up is more of a scientific argument than religious. As in food chain and general consumption. Resources are used for our benefits. Whether it be to fuel our bodies and give us energy or in other ways.

Never said I was outraged. Quit putting words in my mouth. I said I was offended. I am. That isn't going to change just because you or anyone else tells me to. But I'm not outraged, and I never said I was. You can be offended at something without being outraged by it.

Well, we had two cats. Our other cat was a really sweet, black female. She was so placid and affectionate. Last time I took her to the vet he didn't believe she was 15, he estimated maybe 5. He thought I must have been mistaken but I assured him she'd been with us the whole time so we were positive that was her real age. Anyway, shortly after we went away for my daughter's birthday and left the cat in a cattery and next morning we got a call saying she had passed away overnight. My daughter was especially devestated as they had been really close. Being so placid she was great with kids and put up with everything. A couple of weeks later my wife bought a new kitten. He is now about 2 but I never really bonded.

God, that's terrible, especially being unexpected. It's one thing when you suspect, or know, but out of the blue like that? 15 is not a bad age for cats - my three are now that age, but still seem like kittens and have had very little in the way of medical problems - but it's not really an age you expect them to be dying when there's nothing actually wrong with them. Did they diagnose something? I hope your daughter likes the new kitten. What did you call it?

No didn't work out what killed her. She just went to sleep the night before and didn't wake up. My daughter loves the new cat anyway. His name's Eliot.
