That sounds awful, Overcast :c I've known a couple others that experience very similar things, though.

As for nightmares: I'd constantly have dreams about various body parts falling off (usually my legs) and anxiously trying to reattach them.

Actually, now that I think of it I always had intense anxiety and fear around falling asleep in general. Not because of a fear of the dark or any specific thing; it was just an extreme, inexplicable sense of dread and I still have this weird hyper-vigilance at night to this day.
