Default Counterfeit Currency

Does anyone here have any experience with counterfeit currency?

Read an article about a man who printed $250 MILLION in counterfeit U.S. currency.

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/h...t-away-with-it

Dude got caught, but still has $50 MILLION of it stashed away.

Friend in high school had a very good printer and was able to print off about $5,000 in 20's. He got caught because he had a big mouth and one of the kids he told ratted on him for revenge over some BS. He got like 10 years probation.

That does seem a lot. Then again, back around the Civil War couldn't you be actually executed for counterfeiting money?

You'd be surprised how easy it is to find scans of bills online [if one were so inclined]. I would think that it would be the paper that would be the hardest to get right.

Australian notes would be more of a challenge on polymer with holographic inlays.

In the U.S., older bills lack security features. I'm guessing the same is true with other nations' currencies.
