Basically. Hating the idea of being forced to sell your body and time to a corporation is perfectly normal, even if there is the potential of a job you don't hate.

Any of you read the book Nickled and Dimed - On (Not) Getting By in America ? Perhaps it doesn't matter because some of you seem to be living it: Barbara Ehrenreich got a series of mínimum wage jobs, including a stint at Walmart, to see if she could make ends meet. It's a pretty depressing analysis of life at the low end of the wage scale, tbh.
To work or not to work? My ten cents:- Some jobs are soul-destroying and leave so little time for job searching that you almost need to quit the job you have so you can start looking for something better. The problem is that if you then don't find anything, you can be truly screwed. I once experienced a period of unemployment and was shocked at how fast my money and my sense of professional worth evapourated. I also learned that, at interview, you are so much stronger going from one job to another. If you're unemployed, they know you are basically begging before you walk in the door. (Perhaps Trollheart will remember Yosser Hughes at his heart-wrenching, "Gi' s a job" interview.) On balance, I think my advice to Occult H would be to stick at it but try really hard to find something better...Sorry that you're in such an unpleasant situation.

I've had some really ****ty jobs by definition and not once has it made my day miserable. Fix your attitude, and your day will get a lot better, or just keep bitching and blaming everyone for your misery. Homeless people have a better attitude than half the lazy ****s I've encountered over the past 15 years in the workforce. "[Insert Manager] made me do what I was hired for", boo fucking hoo.

Yeah it is crazy but most people are programmed to think that it is their only option. Get a job working for someone else and stick to it no matter what while they have control over your life.
