Default Stupid Things Fake Music Lovers Say

You've heard them, now display them.

Things like:

Them: I love [insert artist here]
Me: Really? What's your favorite album?
Them: Oh I don't know, I've only heard their stuff on the radio

Or things like:

Them: I love heavy metal
Me: Really? What's your favorite band?
Them: Linkin Park

On the flipside, indie pricks are equally intolerable. The kind that'll **** all over you for not wearing the right shoes, right clothes, or listen to stuff that isn't "obscure enough".

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I think what's often worse is that you'll be told someone loves an artist, but ask them to name a favourite track and it's ALWAYS something they released as a single, leaving you with the clear impression they never bought any of their albums.

Examples: I love Prince, but all they can name is 1999, Little red Corvette, Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret etc.

Big fan of Metallica? Favourite song? Enter Sandman.

Like Genesis? Yeah, that song Abacab is great isn't it?

And so on....

This happens far too often too.

Like...

What's your favorite Kanye West track?
Oh, I love Stronger.
The one with Daft Punk, right?
Who the heck is Daft Punk?

"Hey! Nice shirt! What's your favorite song by them?"

"Hmm? Oh, I'm just wearing this 'cause it looks cool"

Accurate.

I'd be surprised at people my age even knowing four of his tracks though.
