That one always confused me. By the time I knew enough about music to even learn about screamo I already knew it wasn't metal. I feel like you need an odd and specific blend of ignorance and stupidity to make that mistake.

This is true because I used to think it, most of the people I know would think it as well. I had pretty much no knowledge of any kind of Rock music. Heavy Metal to me was stuff where people are screaming and smashing drums as hard as they can. Shit you can't even listen to because it's so extreme.
