They get renewed each year because low production cost and high viewer turnout. it doesn't even have to be THAT high and they make a profit. It's just smart business.

In America, we believe that there are two sides to every story. And only two sides. Gray areas don't exist and issues are never complex. In America, it's important to make sure that your side is right at all costs, nevermind what the truth suggests. In America, we get bored with being upset about poverty, corruption, or violence and instead invent imaginary demons to cry about. In America, we mindlessly parrot cannons as absolute truths without considering if they're even partial truths. In America, challenging the status quo is absolutely status no. In America, you can curse your country and declare your love for it in the same breath. In America, it's more important to figure out who to blame for problems instead of figuring out ways to fix them. In America, we figure out what our opinion is on subjects that we're not informed about and find what information fits in nicely with it. In America, louderer is more righterer. In America, we think that being a victim is fun. In America, we know that the victim is always at fault. In America, it's more important to not be that guy than to be yourself.

Why do they make? Hell, why does anyone watch them? Growing up, I could never figure out my sisters love of those shows. She always justified it with, "it makes me feel better about my life." I hated that excuse. It was like saying, "I listen to band x because it makes me feel better about my ****ty music." Yeah, except it still means your music sucks. |

You: Why do you watch this ****?! Your Sister: Because it makes me feel better about my own life. [Translation: I'll sound shallow if I say it's because I like to live vicariously through these insipid bitches simply because they're rich, famous, and beautiful... I'll just say I'm using the show as a gratefulness exercise to develop my inner character.] |
