'sigh'
um just listening/watching some hendrix adn realised how insanely easy hes doin it all. all those insane solos and riffs- all effortless. playing with his teeth at woodstock, rehearsing once or twice and sounding like a god and making history. he was born to play guitar, its him. hes known as one of the greatest guitarists EVER. born to play guitar- unlike me, although i like playing guitar and stuff, but couldnt make a song or do a solo if my life depended on it. why why why why why cant i have natual talent like hendrix, or clapton, or mccartney. i and many others like me are dubbed as the 'dispensables' people who have no point, and are not needed for anythn in this world. people like jimi hendrix, eric clapton, the beatles, led zeppelin, are dubbed as people 'born for greatness' people who (as the name suggests) will be remembered forever and marked down in the history books. and sadly enough 'dispensables' are becoming a majority, and again, sadly enough, there will never ever be another guitarist like hendrix, another composer like beethoven, another cartoonist/writer like disney. seems the consumers standards for greatness have greatly decreased, people having fits over "musicians" like 'simple plan', 'eminem', and such other catastrophes.
and in closing, i love music, but (yet again) sadly enough do not have what it takes to even be considered 'good' in the charts. silverchair released their no1 single 'tomorow' at 14.- my current age..*slowly melting inside* paul mccartney came up with the lyrics for 'when im 64' at the age of 9... god. which leaves me useless, a 'dispensable'..so what the **** am i supposed to do for a living? dispite all the compliments and well wishers, iam not cut out for music (music being the only thing im half good at)....****.- juan |

I know how ya feel. Still, being half good at something is better than being no good at anything. And if ya keep at it you'll only get better.
And while all these people are annoying for having such a natural talent, its even more annoying to see people not do anything with their talent. Heh, sorreh Im no help at all, but still..

Cheer up! Everything's gonna be alright!
I'm already 18 and I still dunno how to play guitar... And everyone's got his talents... Dylan as a songwriter, Hendrix as a guitarplayer and Brando as an actor. I'm sure you too have a certain talent and solely the world doesn't see or appreciate, it doesn't mean it's less precious or unique.

if playing music is what you enjoy doing then people recognize that. No matter what "skill level" you may think you are. People rate musicians differantly. Does a great musician have stage presense? Technical skills? an incredible ear for tones? or just look good in leather pants? truth is, i, like many, am no hendrix, clapton, etc. but when you get on stage, and play like it is what you were meant to do, and have alot of fun doing it, then people will enjoy what you do just as much. Us "disposables" may not be destined for greatness, but we do bring a little bit of joy for the people that go see us play live. That is what you should be watching for, instead of comparing yourself to the greats.

Hey Im happy with myself everytime I learn to play ANOTHER Killers song on the synthesizers... Cant imagine ever writing anything half as good, but Christ am I going to try.
And if all else fails LezZepRulz, we can tour weddings across the lands playing an infusion of "Mr Brightside" and "Communication Breakdown".
