Your English may be ****ed up; however, your French is impeccable.

Im still good friends with about 20 people I went to hs with, and still see others from time to time through other mutual friends.

donno if id say I was "popular" but it was a fun time for me. post-hs is better but I have no horror stories or anything from it.
That sounds exactly like my high school. My graduating class was like 260 or something. Many of us, including me, had been in the same school system since kindergarten. There were different groups of people but as you say it was pretty fluid. I kind of identified with the art/musician/skater type crowd but really I hung out with everyone.

I was popular in primary school. But then there were only 30 people in the entire school. And only 9 people in our entire year. It's easy being popular in such circumstances. Everyone was popular.

I was reasonably popular in secondary school too. It had around 600 pupils, but not really any distinct cliques. I had an older and popular brother there which was very advantageous and ensured I was seen as being cooler than I might otherwise be and afforded a certain freedom with regards to how cocky I could be. All the smokers hung out in the furthest corner of the playing field, that's where the tough kids were, that's were the pretty girls were, that's where the cool kids were, and, as a smoker, that's where I found myself.

Then at 14 I was sent to private school. A boarding school no less. Soon as I arrived, instinct warned me. And so it proved. Everyone was welcoming enough, but I couldn't warm to them. They didn't seem human to me. They did what they were told and naught else. Like robots. Some of them put on airs too, and that annoyed me. To cut a long story short - I came to hate everybody there, and they soon hated me. I became a loner and a trouble maker. I was really homesick for the first few weeks but ended up loving my new found role. They thought themselves superior and I took it upon myself to prove otherwise. It was perfect. And many battles took place. Battles of language, of wit, of violence. But after 7 months of mischief and fighting and not turning up for lessons, I was eventually expelled. Then I went back to my old school and old way of life.

I was popular in elementary school but when i moved to high school things kinda changed. I went to 2 different public high schools and both schools were next to 2 different but equally dangerous projects so the wannabe gangsta kids from there used to run the schools. i never made it past 7th grade in those schools cause i hated that kinda environment but since i played basketball and was fairly good at it i was semi popular during my stay in those schools.

Ive always been a geek at heart but just caused i played basketball i was able to pass by as a jock and avoided being picked on.

I never tried to be popular but had a lot of friends in school, when I went to high school my parents had just split-up and I went to a new school where I only knew two people from middle school. The high school I went to had an area where all of the headbangers hung-out, smoking had just been banned on campus that year so all of the metalheads and punks congregated in the old smoking area and seeing as I had long hair at this point it was easy making new friends. This was the late 80s so it is funny looking back at the different groups that were there - you had the people into hardcore, new wave, thrash, and the glamsters - those were the only ones that really caught hell and rightfully so. I remember one day this guy Nick showed up to school wearing zebra striped spandex with his poofy hair and everyone was dying laughing. Good times.
