I'm in the bathroom at a party rn. I'll hook Chula up with some meta analysis and an explanation of why meta analysis is good later unless ped does it first.

I'll let the American College of Pediatricians reply:

Conclusion
In summary, Gershoff and Grogan-Kaylor’s most recent meta-analysis relies on correlational evidence that would be considered woefully inadequate in any other scientific field. Further, their research ignores the beneficial findings of studies that have investigated appropriate ways of spanking in disciplinary situations traditionally considered appropriate. Consequently, Gershoff and Grogan-Kaylor’s conclusions are not valid. Better constructed research has found appropriately administered disciplinary spanking to be effective in correcting defiant behavior that fails to respond to milder disciplinary measures without causing long term harm.

This is the reason why it should only be done within a certain age range then weened off.

Science says otherwise on the way more cognizant front.

You have to follow through with the one two punch combo. Spank then explaination.

It isn't worse. At least the action of smacking temporarily deters them from that behavior til they can understand.

I just hope I don't run into any of your bratty Bebe's kids out in public that are being terrors to everyone in the vicinity because ya'll are on your high horse thinking you are better parents and everyone else has to deal with your monsters.

I support spanking young children because it's sexy. Teaches them what that ass is for.

I had to endure school sanctioned spankings with a hard ruler in second grade.

Could you describe this experience in exact detail, please?

I was in St. Thomas at the time. It wasn't even like a private Catholic school. I got in trouble for trying to rub my boogers on people. Everyone had to line up outside of the classroom and each student that was in trouble would be taken into the class by the teacher. So it was just be the teacher and the student. This older teacher in his mid 50s bent me over the wooden desk and gave me spanks on my ass with a meter ruler. I don't remember how many but I do remember getting spanked AGAIN by my grandmother when I got home.

I have experience both as a child receiving, and a parent administering, mild corporal punishment, I can tell you that it is effective. I don't have to speculate.

I probably only spanked Sherri 3 times total and each time was for something so over the line, that not only did she know it was wrong but someone could have gotten badly hurt.

Last time was when she was probably 7 and her brother was 2. The were out playing in the yard with 2 neighbor kids. I happened to look outside as Sherri and the neighbors were sitting on our picnic table. Mike was standing on it.

Mike must have been bugging them cause Sherri reached up and pushed him away. He ended up stmbling back and was almost teetering on the edge, and then Sherri stood up and gave him anothder shove over the edge.

Fortunately he fell on grass and only got the wind knocked out of him. He could have easily busted an arm.

Sent the neighbors home brought her inside and gave her a few swats on her fully clothed behind. Then sent her to her room for the rest of the afternoon.

Finally called her out for dinner and the first thing she did was hug her brother and apologize. We then all ate and the incident was 100% forgotten.
