wow, this is a great thread.

Sometimes being open minded makes me incredibly innefectual. If you look at every possible source, outcome, reason there really it becomes really hard to make decisions. Nothing is really right or wrong in terms of logical decision making, self-perception, perception of others, its like floating in an endless sea.

It's why I'm having difficulty figuring out just who the **** i am and how i want to conduct myself.

I can empathize with racists, liberals, minorities, republicans, democrats because nobody is really right or wrong.

I think close minded people are immediatly more efficient, and can integrate into certain groups better. Sometimes I wish I was a traditional male just so I could easily get a traditional female and have a normal family. But I honestly just can't think that way.

edit: pick something and go. Be what you want to be. It is as easy as it sounds. I guess I want to be somebody who questions everything and doesn't do much? No I dont wtf. I'm stuck in a circle.

You're arguing from the assumption that logic is superior or the only valid avenue of understanding. Check your privilege.

Yes I do. The fact that you think it's not tells me that you don't understand what logic is.

I always believe you should always keep an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out.

So you're not interested in a free auditing and E-meter evaluation?

Well the open mindedness I'm referring to is the one I hear the most about, which is just tryhard feelgood bull****. Actually being open to ideas and such is great and pretty necessary to not be a complete dumb**** but I don't believe in many of these people. I think they just say the words because words are easy.

"Everything is okay if it isn't hurting anyone hurr durr"

Any time anyone has ever told me I should be more open minded they were trying to talk me into doing some incredibly stupid or unappealing thing. A lot of them were wearing skinny jeans like high schoolers in 2005. My feelings could best be summed up by the phrase "don't be so open minded that your brain falls out".

I understand what logic is, and I use logic regularly; but logic isn't the sole means through which one can come to understand something. Instinct, for example, is another.

You just have to fight all your natural thoughts and instincts and do what other people say.

i think a lot of my logic is illogical although i may be wrong in thinking that

i tend to do things compulsively more than logically but logically speaking I could be totally wrong about that.

other people very likely have a more accurate idea of who i am then i do but at the same time they may be viewing me through preconceived lense and whos to say im not just who i think i am

I'm having fun with this crap. I read some aristotle or one of those greek "all i know is i can think" in some intro to rhetoric course so bear with me while i try to dick around
